About
Crookston is the regional hub within the Red River Valley,
home of the best agricultural land in the world. The farmers
of this land feed the world and also feed a thriving local
community.
Through our town winds the meandering Red Lake River.
The beauty and opportunities are endless on the water
from some of the best catfishing in the region to canoeing
and kayaking each turn. Our very own outfitters provides
rentals and drop-off and pick-up for ease.
Our beautiful Historic downtown
features turn-of-the-century
architecture and specialty
shopping, unique stores, stories
and experiences. The Grand
Theatre, where Vaudeville once
reigned in its beautiful 1910
architecture, is one of the oldest
continually operating movie
theatres in the country. Widman’s Candy Shop, established in 1911 and voted #1 Candy Store in Minnesota in 2015, still offers old-fashioned soda fountain treats and their famous “Chippers”, chocolate-covered potato chips and other hand-dipped candies. Many other unique restaurant
options from home-cooked meals to authentic Mexican make Crookston a great place to grab a bite and our Farmer’s Market meets every Thursday at the Downtown Square.
