Here's Your Summer Baseball Preview
Summer is around the corner and baseball season is here, which means that you’ll soon be going to your favorite sports bar to take in some innings over good food and good beer. The Red Sox dominated baseball last year, but are they set to do the same in 2019? Here is a look at what you can expect from baseball season this year.
Boston Red Sox continue to dominate.
Analysts don’t see anyone who is likely to stop the Red Sox on their way to another World Series title. If they do it, they will be the first team to do so since the Yankees held the title from 1998 – 2000. The Yankees are likely to be their biggest challengers in the division, and the Tampa Bay Rays may be poised to be a bigger threat than expected, thanks to their pitching lineup.
The National League East could be the most competitive division.
The NL East is packed with evenly balanced rivals and no clear top contender, which should make division match-ups fun to watch. A busy offseason has netted the New York Mets a powerful lineup that should instantly improve their performance, while the Phillies had an equally strong round of pickups to make them more competitive. The Washington Nationals are also greatly improved, so the Braves can’t expect to easily take the title this year like they did last.
The LA Dodgers have another good year.
There doesn’t seem to be much standing in the way of the Dodgers coming out on top for a seventh season in the NL West, though the Rockies are likely to be formidable challengers again. The Diamondbacks are looking at a rebuilding season after getting rid of Paul Goldschmidt, but they should still be neck and neck for rankings with the Padres.
